En Plein Air Competition

Invitation to artists to register for the SAC's Stroud En Plein Air Competition

Stroud Artists Cooperative invites you to register and take part in

the Inaugural Stroud En Plein Air Competition

Saturday 6th July 2024; Sign in at 9.00am; Submit Entries at 4.30pm

The Blue Room, Stroud Centre for Science and Art, Lansdown.


We would like this event to be a brilliant opportunity for all 2D artists (digital, ipad or photography does not qualify) to celebrate the wonderful place that we live in. It is open to any and all artists regardless of age, media (with the above exceptions) or style. The only criteria is that the art must be started and completed on the day and within the environs of Stroud.

Please arrive as close as possible to 9am on Saturday 6th July at the Blue Room, Stroud Centre for Science and Art.

Sign In will close at 10am.

       The Fee is £15 - 19 and over; £5 - 18 and under, payable by 6pm 5th July 2024  (Please reference payment EPA24)

       Registration is now open. and closes 6pm 5th July 2024.

       Sign into the event: 9am - 10am Saturday 6th July

                                    (if you are NOT signed in, you cannot take part in the event).

Please bring your canvas or board to the registration for stamping - only entries with a stamp will be judged as part of the competition. You will receive information about Stroud and Stroud Town Centre, plus a map of possible locations.

Entries and Judging:

You may do more than one piece on the day (please make sure these are stamped at sign in), but you may only submit one entry into the competition at the end of the day. Artists are required to add name, title, location, media, size and price to their artworks before handing in (on the rear).

       Only ONE entry per person; 18 and under will be entered into the Youth Award

       Submit by 4.00pm back at the Blue Room

Judging will take place by a panel of independent judges between 4.00 and 5.00pm

A list of judges will be published shortly.

       Winners will be announced at 5.00pm

       Presentation and Award ceremony 5pm - 6pm

Exhibition and Sale:

There will be a short exhibition of all entries open to the public from 4.30pm  onwards - all entries will be available for sale (if the artist agrees) from 6.00pm (no commission taken). Please make sure you are able to give us a price!

All winning submissions will have free entry into the SAC's En Plein Air Exhibition at Lansdown Gallery (17-22 July 2024)

(20% Gallery Commission on sales)

Overall Winner: £100 cash prize sponsored by the SAC

Contemporary art - £50 Pegasus Arts Voucher sponsored by Pegasus Arts

Drawing/illustration - £50 Pegasus Arts Voucher sponsored by........tbc?

Youth Award - £50 Pegasus Arts Voucher sponsored by Stroud Art College (tbc)

3x highly commended: Art supplies

 

All winning submissions will have free entry into the SAC's Summer Exhibition (En Plein Air).

 

Terms and Conditions:

Please make sure you have read all information, terms and conditions, and are available for the key dates. Please ensure all information is correct before submission. All images must be clearly named with the name of the artist and the title of the artwork. Work submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Artists agree that winning entries will be automatically submitted into the SAC's En Plein Air Exhibition at Lansdown Gallery on 17-22nd July (this is part of the competition prize). Artists will comply with the requirements for this exhibition information will be provided as to dates etc.

The SAC  accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or injury during the day 

The Stroud Artists Cooperative reserves the right to not accept work on delivery due to the competition rules and requirements not being followed.

All work entered into the competition may be used by the SAC for advertising and marketing purposes for this and/or future exhibitions and competitions.


*For administration purposes Stroud Artists Cooperative will assume that unless already a member, exhibitors are Associate Members and listed as such in our membership list. Only Full or Associate members are covered by our Public Liability Insurance.

Copyright and Promotion

Copyright of the artworks submitted remains with the artist. However, by submitting an application form and agreeing to the terms and conditions set out, the artist gives permission for their work to be used for the promotional purposes of Lansdown Gallery and Stroud Artists Cooperative, for the exhibition both online and in print.  Examples of ways in which your work may be used for promotional purposes include:

Online – Adverts and Online Press, Online Catalogue, Social Media, etc.

In Print – Exhibition Catalogue/Brochure, Leaflets/Posters, Advertising and Press (Magazines and Newspapers), etc.

Insurance and Damage to Artwork

The utmost care will be taken of artworks once submitted; however neither The Centre for Science and Art, Stroud Artists Cooperative, or its staff will be responsible for any loss or damage of artworks whilst they are on display. If exhibitors are concerned for the welfare of their work, exhibitors must make their own arrangements regarding insurance. 

Transportation

Please Note all costs of transporting/delivering the artworks to the Centre are the responsibility of the Artist. Just as we do not accept liability for damages on the premises, the Centre or Cooperative does not accept any responsibility/liability for damage to artwork whilst being transported and delivered to the premises.

Collecting your Work

Artwork must be collected at 6.30 pm on the 6th July. This remains the responsibility of the artist - there is no storage availability at the premises or with the SAC.

Please note, if any work submitted has not been collected from the SAC within two weeks, The SAC may dispose of the work as it sees fit.
